Bahamas Industrial Technologies Ltd is a leading provider of hydraulic repairs, welding and fabrication, machining services, and mechanical repairs on heavy equipment.
We are seeking an experienced Hydraulic Technician to join our team. The Hydraulic Technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic systems and components for our clients’ equipment. The ideal candidate will have a technical degree or certification in hydraulic systems or a related field, at least five years of experience as a Hydraulic Technician, and knowledge of all proper job site health and safety policies
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems and components for heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic system problems and failures.
- Perform routine maintenance on hydraulic systems to ensure that they operate efficiently.
- Operate and maintain hydraulic system testing equipment.
- Identify and fabricate new hydraulic hoses for equipment and clients.
- Open, clean and inspect hydraulic cylinders and reassemble and test with new seals.
- Read and interpret hydraulic system schematics and blueprints.
- Work with a variety of hydraulic components, including pumps, valves, hoses, and cylinders.
- Conduct hydraulic system inspections to identify potential problems.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the safety of all employees.
- Provide accurate estimates of repair costs and time required to complete work orders.
- Communicate with clients to provide updates on work progress and address any concerns.
- Maintain accurate work records and files to ensure that all necessary information is up to date and accurate.
- Ensure that all deadlines are met to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist employees in on-site health or safety emergencies to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Address and resolve customer issues and complaints to maintain a positive relationship with our clients.
- Inspect and clean hydraulic system equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Order supplies to ensure that the shop has all necessary resources to complete work.
- Operate shop machinery such as forklifts or manufacturing equipment to complete work orders.
- Ensure that the shop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material to ensure the safety of all employees.
COMPETENCIES
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical degree or certification in hydraulic systems or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Hydraulic Technician or a related role.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Knowledge of all proper job site health and safety policies to ensure the safety of all employees.
- Attention to detail to ensure that work is completed to the required standards.
- Basic computer skills to enter and retrieve data from computer databases.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic system schematics and blueprints to complete work orders.
- Capability of translating industry terminology into straightforward terms for explanatory purposes to ensure effective communication.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree or certification in hydraulic systems or related field preferred.
- At least five years of experience as a Hydraulic Technician or a related role.
