We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to join our team. The Shop Foreman will be responsible for overseeing our machining, hydraulic repair, welding and fabrication, and mechanical repair operations for heavy equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for hiring and training employees, monitoring work activity, ensuring deadlines are met, and enforcing all health and safety policies in the shop. The ideal candidate will have a technical degree or certification in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field, at least ten years of experience in a similar role, and knowledge of all proper job site health and safety policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire and train employees to ensure the workforce meets the required skillset and to work towards continuous improvement of the shop.
- Create and manage employee schedules to ensure timely completion of work.
- Oversee daily work of employees, ensuring that work is being completed efficiently and on time.
- Warn, discipline or terminate employees not working to company standards.
- Meet with customers and clients to understand their requirements and provide estimates of time required to complete work orders.
- Process customer and client work orders and enter them into computer databases.
- Maintain work records and files to ensure all necessary information is up to date and accurate.
- Assign duties to shop workers to ensure that work is completed on time and to the required standards.
- Assist in repair, construction, maintenance or other tasks involved in client work orders.
- Review work completed to ensure it is up to quality standards.
- Enforce all health and safety policies in the shop to ensure the safety of all employees.
- Ensure that all deadlines are met to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist employees in on-site health or safety emergencies to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Address and resolve customer issues and complaints to maintain a positive relationship with our clients.
- Inspect and clean shop equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Fix equipment and machinery as necessary to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Order supplies to ensure that the shop has all necessary resources to complete work.
- Operate shop machinery such as forklifts or manufacturing equipment to complete work orders.
- Ensure that the shop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material to ensure the safety of all employees.

- Capability of translating industry terminology into straightforward terms for explanatory purposes to ensure effective communication.
- Qualified to operate heavy machinery to complete work orders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree or certification in heavy equipment mechanics or related field preferred
- Warehouse, factory, or shop experience required.
- 10+ years of managerial or supervisory experience required.
- 10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in machining services, hydraulic repairs, welding and fabrication, and mechanical repairs on heavy equipment
